DNFSB Selects CenturyLink & Collab9 For Secure Cloud Communications

By ExchangeMonitor

The Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board (DNFSB) has tapped CenturyLink [CTL] and collab9 to secure its enterprise communication networks with their joint cloud communications service.

Under the deal, announced Jan. 31, the two companies will deliver their Unified Communications as a Service (UCaas) platform to start DNFSB’s transition to cloud computing platforms.

“CenturyLink is excited to work with collab9 to provide DNFSB with a modern unified communications system that helps the agency focus on its mission to ensure that America’s defense nuclear facilities are operated safely with proper public health protections,” David Young, CenturyLink regional vice president, said in a statement.

The task order has a one-year period of performance, with two one-year renewal options, and was awarded via the General Service Administration’s contract with CenturyLink’s subsidiary Level 3 Communications.

The two companies will assist the cloud communications transition for DNFSB, which is tasked with supporting the President and Energy Secretary on issues related to safety and public health at defense nuclear facilities.

“collab9 is aware of the critical nature of DNFSB’s mission, and we are privileged to provide our secure unified communications service to support the safe operation and maintenance of our nation’s defense nuclear facilities,” Steven Boberski, collab9’s vice president of business development, said in a statement.

CenturyLink offers cloud-ready telecommunications services after partnership with collab9, which is currently the only FedRAMP-authorized UCaas Solution provider. FedRAMP is the Office of Management and Budget’s program to ensure new cloud services reach mandated security requirements.

This is the second contract for CenturyLink and collab9’s UCaaS service. Their cloud platform is set to be deployed soon for Department of Homeland Security’s Customs and Border Protection communications systems.
