DNFSB RESCHEDULES Y-12 SAFETY MEETING FOR DEC. 10

By ExchangeMonitor

The Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board has rescheduled a hearing on nuclear safety at the Y-12 National Security Complex for Dec. 10. The DNFSB postponed the Oct. 22 hearing because of the government shutdown, but it said in a Federal Register notice released yesterday that the rescheduled hearing would remain focused on the same issues it had planned to discuss, including safety improvements since the Board last visited Y-12 in October of last year. The two-session meeting is scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to noon and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Knoxville Convention Center. The second session of the meeting will focus on Y-12’s emergency response planning efforts and the safety of nuclear operations.
