The Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board last week appointed Nichole Huntington a new resident inspector at the Department of Energy’s Hanford Site in Washington state.
Huntington’s first day on the job was Dec. 5, according to a press release from the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board (DNFSB) acting executive director of operations Christopher Roscetti.
Huntington joins DNFSB after working at Hanford tank contractor Washington River Protection Solutions for more than five years in a couple of different engineering posts, according to the release. She also has federal experience from the Department of Defense where she served as a radioactive waste engineer for the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, according to the release.
Huntington has also worked as a nuclear safety engineer at Bechtel National at the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant at Hanford.
Huntington joins fellow resident inspectors Huntington Pat Fox, Benjamin Caleca and Perry Meyer, according to the release. As a resident inspector, Huntington advises DNFSB on safety conditions and technical issues for Hanford’s defense nuclear facilities. She will also act as a board liaison with Hanford Site management as well as local and state stakeholders.
