DNFSB announced new LANL resident inspector

Jason Kemp will take over as resident inspector at Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, N.M., the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board announced Monday.

According to a Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board (DNFSB) press release, Kemp’s duties as resident inspector would include advising on safety conditions for the defense nuclear facilities at Los Alamos, participate in technical reviews for DNFSB, and act as a liaison between the Board and the lab’s management, the board said.

Prior to this position, Kemp’s spent 20 years as an engineer, including at DOE’s Los Alamos National Laboratory and Hanford Site in Washington state, and in the commercial nuclear power industry at Oconee Nuclear Station. 

Kemp has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. He maintains a professional engineering license in the state of New Mexico.
