A story in the April 1 issue of Weapons Complex Monitor [“With Little Fanfare, Six Tons of Plutonium Officially Headed to WIPP“] should have said 700 kilograms of excess highly enriched uranium slated to be shipped to the U.S. from the United Kingdom will be sent to an undisclosed facility. A spokesperson with the National Nuclear Security Administration said April 1 that “while we cannot provide details on our nonproliferation operations due to security restrictions, the destination for this HEU is not the Savannah River Site.”
A story in the April 1 issue of Weapons Complex Monitor [“Draft Solicitation for SRS Liquid Cleanup Work Arrives”] should have said AECOM, a parent company of incumbent liquid-waste contractor Savannah River Remediation, is considering bidding for a follow-on liquid-cleanup contract at the Energy Department’s Savannah River Site.
