Department of Energy security contractor Centerra Group recently purchased Gregg Protection Services in its first major acquisition after becoming a privately held company. Gregg Protection Services was founded in 1997 and provides safeguards and security, training and performance solutions, staff augmentation and vulnerability assessments. Its major customers include DOE and several national laboratories. “This addition to the Centerra family brings a team of uniquely qualified professionals with unmatched technical skills and experience in the highly specialized arena of global non-proliferation and threat reduction support,” Centerra President and CEO Paul Donahue said in a statement. The purchase price was not disclosed.
Centerra was established when a private equity firm purchased G4S Government Solutions from G4S last year. The company was known as Wackenhut Services until 2011. “With the acquisition of Gregg Protection Services, we are clearly communicating to the market that within the first quarter of being taken private, Centerra is prepared to move forward with an important part of its growth strategy, which is strategic acquisitions,” said Nat Fogg, Centerra’s senior vice president of Mergers & Acquisitions and Corporate Development. Former Nevada National Security Site protective force general manager David Bradley, now Centerra’s vice president of Operations, will lead the company’s new division. Marty Glasser took over for Bradley as the NNSS protective force manager.
