In a management change at the Mixed Oxide Fuel Fabrication Facility project this week, CB&I AREVA MOX Services has named David Del Vecchio as the next president and project manager while current project head Kelly Trice will be the new senior vice president for CB&I’s power division. Trice will remain the president of CB&I Project Services Group and in the new corporate role will be responsible for both MOX and domestic and international nuclear new builds including the Vogtle and V.C. Summer nuclear power plants and the company’s projects in China. He will report to CB&I Power President Jeff Lyash.
Trice said that the move will allow for a better focus on stakeholder relations. “The majority of my time has been focused on external stakeholders, which involves extensive travel. In order to increase the focus on these stakeholders, my role will be changing as of November 1,” Trice said in an Oct. 27 message to employees. “I will remain the president of CPSG and continue the external stakeholder focus, but my internal responsibilities for constructing the MOX plant will be transitioned. Additionally, as part of my new assignment, I will be filling a ‘shared’ role with the CB&I Power Group as senior vice president responsible for the nuclear new-build projects domestically and internationally.”
Del Vecchio is MOX Services’ current vice president of project management and has been at MOX since 2011, while he was previously project manager at the Plutonium Finishing Plant at Hanford. Additionally, current MOX Services Executive Vice President and Deputy Project Manager Gilles Rousseau is taking over as the project’s chief operating officer. Del Vecchio said in a statement: “I am honored to be the new President and Project Manager for CB&I AREVA MOX Services, and will continue to provide the steady leadership that Kelly Trice has provided during his time here at the MOX Project. This is an important and historic non-proliferation project for the United States, and filling the shoes that Kelly leaves will be a challenge, but our goal remains the same. We will continue to construct the MOX Plant and make the plant operational. That, I can promise.”
