CANNON NAMED NEW MOX FEDERAL PROJECT DIRECTOR

By ExchangeMonitor

The National Nuclear Security Administration has named Scott Cannon as new federal project director to the Mixed Oxide Fuel Fabrication Facility project. Cannon most recently led the NNSA’s Tritium Program as deputy manager and acting manager at the Savannah River Field Office, and from 2008 to 2011 he led the NNSA’s Pit Disassembly and Conversion project. His appointment comes at a time of transition for the project—The Administration plans to reevaluate its plutonium disposition strategy in the coming year while slowing down construction of the MOX plant. “With many years of experience in program management and planning, design development, construction management and operational management, Scott is an important element of our NNSA leadership team,” NNSA acting Administrator Neile Miller said in a message to employees yesterday. Cannon replaces acting Federal Project Director Kevin Hall, who took over after project chief Clay Ramsey retired in late August.
