The governments of Canada and China on Thursday signed a Joint Declaration on Canada-China Clean Technology Cooperation. Under the declaration, the countries will share best practices to determine policy approaches to clean technology, address economic and social challenges through clean technology, explore the possibility of clean energy technology demonstrations, and facilitate collaboration between small and medium-sized enterprises.
“Collaboration with China on clean technology, best policy practices, and to promote clean energy creates opportunities for Canadians, and has tremendous potential to create real economic, environmental and social benefits for both countries,” Jim Carr, Canada’s minister of natural resources, said in a press release.
Navdeep Bains, Canada’s minister of innovation, science, and economic development, applauded the declaration. “Canadians understand that a strong economy and environmental sustainability go hand in hand. As part of our overall approach to innovation, the Government of Canada sees clean technology as a platform for sustainable growth and employment across the economy. Canada and China have a long history of cooperation, and we look forward to working together to further capitalize on the opportunities in this important sector,” Bains said in the release.
