Lynchburg, Va. -based BWX Technologies has promoted Richard Loving to the newly created post of senior vice president and chief administrative officer (CAO).
Loving has been senior vice president for human resources at BWXT since mid-2016.
He has about 40 years of management experience in manufacturing, energy, and government operations, according to a press release. That has been chiefly with BWXT and its predecessor companies – McDermott International and Babcock & Wilcox.
“Elevating his title to chief administrative officer acknowledges the full breadth of his responsibilities in human resources, communications, security, and environmental health & safety,” BWXT President and CEO Rex Geveden said in the press release.
Loving joined Babcock & Wilcox Co. security operations in 1979, and held several management positions during his career there before joining McDermott International in 2010. That is the year Babcock was spun off from McDermott. At McDermott, Loving was senior human resources positions in the Middle East and internationally.
BWXT itself separated from Babcock & Wilcox in 2015, leaving behind its power generation business. The company is a minority partner in several DOE Office of Environmental Management contracts, including the cleanup of the Portsmouth Site in Ohio and operation of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant in New Mexico. It is also a partner in the manager of DOE’s Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California.
