Lynchburg, Va.-based BWX Technologies appointed Joel Duling president of its Nuclear Operations Groups, effective June 22.
Duling, currently leading the company’s Nuclear Fuel Services subsidiary, will succeed Joe Henry, who is retiring. Before joining Tennessee-based Nuclear Fuel Services (NFS) five years ago as director of operations, Duling was vice president of production for B&W Y-12, former prime contractor for the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
BWX Technologies’ Nuclear Operations Group manufactures heavy nuclear components for U.S. government customers. The bulk of the company’s business comes from its contract to manufacture reactors for U.S. naval warships and submarines.
Nuclear Fuel Services, a subsidiary of the Nuclear Operations Group, makes nuclear fuel for the Navy. The Nuclear Operations Group reported $317 million in revenue for the first quarter of 2018, a 2.6 percent decrease from the $325 million reported a year earlier. BWX Technologies attributed the difference to the timing of contracts.
