The Energy Department has announced that Portsmouth Site Lead Joel Bradburne has been promoted to deputy manager of the Office of Environmental Management’s Portsmouth/Paducah Project Office (PPPO).
The federal office manages both the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant site in Ohio as well as the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion plant site in Kentucky. Until a replacement is named for the Portsmouth Site lead job, Bradburne will temporarily pull double-duty, DOE said in a Nov. 21 news release.
Bradburne joined the Portsmouth-Paducah office in 2009 to manage the Portsmouth cleanup. Bradburne has 17 years of DOE experience. Altogether he has more than 30 years of management experience in the government and private sectors.
In his new role, Bradburne will oversee PPPO administration and management, the cleanup of the uranium enrichment facilities at Portsmouth and Paducah, and the Depleted Uranium Hexafluoride (DUF6) conversion plants at both locations, DOE said.
Bradburne holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Bridgewater College in Virginia as well as a master’s degree in environmental management from the University of Findlay in Ohio. He is a certified Project Management Professional, DOE said.
The DOE news release did not specify who Bradburne replaces as deputy manager.
