Harry Boston, founder of Boston Government Services, is stepping down as CEO and being succeeded by chief operating officer Doug Freund, the Oak Ridge, Tenn.-based Department of Energy contractor said May 31.
Boston, who started Boston Government Services (BGS) in 2007, sold his ownership stake to Louisiana-based Bernhard Capital Partners in 2022, according to the company news release. He will continue to serve as an adviser to Boston Government Services, according to the release.
“Today, BGS is rapidly growing as a highly capable solutions firm for the government and adjacent energy markets,” Boston, the departing CEO said in the release. “Doug Freund is the ideal leader for the next chapter of BGS’ success.”
Freund joined BGS in September 2023 as chief operating officer and now will assume the titles of president and CEO effective this past week, according to a company spokesperson. He is an Air Force veteran with 30 years of management experience with companies including Lockheed Martin, Leidos and Kiewit.
Some of his most recent posts include about a year as a senior vice president with Kiewit and more than four years as vice president for operations support for Consolidated Nuclear Security at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Tennessee, according to his LinkedIn profile.
