BLUE RIBBON PANEL TO MEET IN BOSTON TODAY

By ExchangeMonitor

The Administration’s Blue Ribbon Commission on America’s Nuclear Future meets in Boston today to seek feedback on its draft recommendations on nuclear waste disposal. On the agenda are a host of waste-related issues addressed in the panel’s draft report, including issues at West Valley, consolidated interim storage sites, consent-based radioactive waste siting and radioactive waste transportation. Officials from organizations and local governments across the Northeast are scheduled to present to the BRC on those topics. The Boston event is the latest in a series of public meetings the panel is holding following the release of its draft report in July, with meetings scheduled in Atlanta and Washington, D.C., next week. The BRC’s final recommendations are due in January.
