Bipartisan Group of Governors Sign Accord for a New Energy Future

By ExchangeMonitor

A group of 17 U.S. governors this week pledged to take steps to secure a clean energy future. Under the Governors’ Accord for a New Energy Future, within their states the governors committed to diversify energy generation and expand clean energy sources; modernize energy infrastructure; encourage clean transportation options; develop energy plans and strategies to implement energy improvements; collaborate on transformational policy changes; and help secure a stronger national energy future.

“Given the unique energy portfolio and regulatory framework of each state, Governors are uniquely positioned to drive lasting improvements to our country’s energy system,” the accord says.

The accord was signed by Governors Jerry Brown (D-Calif.), Dannel Malloy (D-Conn.), Jack Markell (D-Del.), David Ige (D-Hawaii), Terry E. Branstad (R-Iowa), Charlie Baker (R-Mass.), Rick Snyder (R-Mich.), Mark Dayton (DFL-Minn.), Brian Sandoval (R-Nev.), Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.), Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.), Kate Brown (D-Ore.), Tom Wolf (D-Penn.), Gina Raimondo (D-R.I.), Peter Shumlin (D-Vt.), Terry  McAuliffe (D-Va.), and Jay Inslee (D-Wash.).
