The Energy Department on Wednesday issued a final request for proposals for a potential $1 billion, 10-year paramilitary security services contract at the Savannah River Site in South Carolina.
The current $990 million contract, held by Centerra-SRS, started in October 2009 and runs through Oct. 7. The latest DOE procurement schedule says the department could award the follow-on deal between August and October.
Centerra Group has said it is interested in keeping the business.
The successor agreement would be a cost-plus award fee contract with a 60-day transition and a base period of four years and 10 months, followed by two option periods.
The winning vendor will provide for the safety and security of employees, contractors, and the general public at DOE Office of Environmental Management and National Nuclear Security Administration facilities at SRS. The contractor must also protect government property, special nuclear material, classified matter, and other sensitive information.
The Energy Department has scheduled a site tour for March 26. Registration requests can be sent until noon Eastern time on March 15 to [email protected].
Time-sensitive questions can be sent to Contracting Officer Matthew Carpenter at [email protected].
Offers are due by 2 p.m. Eastern time on April 22.
