BIDDERS TO TOUR Y-12, PANTEX, SAVANNAH RIVER SITE

By ExchangeMonitor

Prospective bidders for the National Nuclear Security Administration’s consolidated Y-12/Pantex management and operating contract will get up close and personal looks at the sites they might eventually run this week. The agency is hosting a trio of site visits, starting with a visit to the Pantex Plant today. Bidders will visit the Y-12 National Security Complex and receive briefings on the Uranium Processing Facility Wednesday, and on Friday, bidders will tour the Savannah River Site’s tritium operations, which is included as an option to the planned contract. At least three teams are expected to bid for the contract, including a team led by Y-12 and Pantex incumbent Babcock & Wilcox (with URS, Northrop Grumman, Honeywell and EnergySolutions) as well as teams made up of Lockheed Martin-Bechtel-ATK and Fluor-Jacobs Engineering. Registration for the site tours closed Jan. 23 and was not open to the public.
