Bechtel National Gets New President

By Chris Schneidmiller

Government contracting giant Bechtel on Tuesday said it had promoted company veteran Barbara Rusinko to the dual positions of executive vice president of its nuclear, security, and environmental branch and president of subsidiary Bechtel National.

In her new position, the career engineer will head up a multibillion-dollar group of operations that encompass engineering, construction, project management, and facility operations in the governmental national security and environmental spheres, according to a Bechtel press release.

Rusinko, in a career to date spanning 31 years, had provided top-level engineering management services on projects including the now-suspended Yucca Mountain nuclear waste storage repository in Nevada and the Hanford Site’s Waste Treatment Plant in Washington state. She most recently served as manager for corporate engineering, procurement, and construction for Bechtel Group.

“Barbara’s diverse experience leading projects in government services and the commercial sector allow her to bring best practices from industry to create value for taxpayers,” NS&E President Craig Albert said in the release.

Bechtel National is the U.S. government services branch of its parent company. Among a host of contracts, it is building the Hanford Waste Treatment Plant and is one of the partners in Consolidated Nuclear Security, manager of the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Y-12 and Pantex nuclear weapons sites.
