Contractor Bechtel announced Monday it appointed Dena Volovar as the new president of its Nuclear, Security & Energy business.
Volovar succeeds John Howanitz, who will retire in April after 42 years at Bechtel, according to the company press release.
Volovar’s tenure at Bechtel extends 26 years, most recently as executive vice president and manager of Nuclear, Security & Energy’s (NS&E) Environmental & Security line. There, she managed Bechtel’s relationships with the Department of Energy and secured contract extensions at Y-12 National Security Complex and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
Volovar was also the project manager for the Uranium Processing Facility in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
“Dena’s extensive leadership experience and deep expertise make her the ideal choice to lead our Nuclear, Security & Environmental business,” Craig Albert, Bechtel President and chief operating officer, said in the release.
