Seven Australian carbon capture and storage projects have been awarded a total of $18.2 million (USD) via the national government’s Carbon Capture and Storage Research Development and Demonstration Fund (CCS RD&D Fund). “The seven projects selected include both industry and research institution-led projects. These will further add to Australia’s knowledge and successful implementation of large scale CCS projects in Australia,” Minister for Resources and Northern Australia Matt Canavan said in an announcement Monday.
Awardees are: Glencore, receiving $6.74 million; Shell Australia, receiving $532,674; the University of Melbourne, receiving $1.03 million; the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization, with two projects receiving $2.12 million and $605,689; Energy Pipelines CRC, receiving $2.48 million; and the University of Queensland, receiving $4.68 million.
