Advanced Technologies and Laboratories (ATL) has entered into an agreement to purchase DeNuke Services—a sale DeNuke Services President Fred Gardner said this week that he expects to complete within a month. “We’ve entered in a letter of intent and we’re selling all the assets of DeNuke to ATL,” Gardner told WC Monitor. “We think they’re a great company to acquire those assets because they’re very similar to what DeNuke looks like,” he said, adding, “It seems like a very good fit.” Gardner declined to provide information yesterday on the proposed purchase price of the planned acquisition.
Once the sale is completed, ATL intends to keep all of DeNuke’s “key staff and employees,” Gardner said, adding that he will remain as a “consultant” to ATL. “We think that the synergy between the two companies will lead to some improved opportunities for growth because of the complementary nature of the experience and staff and people and the work we’re doing,” Gardner said. In a separate response, ATL President Jou Hwang said, “I predict that over the next two years, we will rapidly and successfully develop the DeNuke assets and grow the business.”
With the purchase of DeNuke Services, ATL will become “a leading services subcontractor in the nuclear market providing health physics technicians, supervisors, radiological engineers, safety specialists, DOELAP programs, laboratory analysis and instrumentation operators,” Hwang said. “Thru the asset acquisition, ATL will establish a DeNuke Field Services and Solutions Division (DSD) to support the Prime (remediation and DOE operations) Contractors. Our focus is to employ Health Physicists, Safety Professionals, and Radiological Engineers with competency in overseeing and providing field technical services of decommissioning, planning and implementation of radiation protection programs for nuclear facilities and designing and conducting MARSSIM facility surveys including planning and design, instrumentation, data collection and management, and reporting.” Hwang added, “DeNuke teaming partners will see an increased level of value through the combination of well-established, skilled resources and conducts of operation covering a wider range of capabilities, such as a comprehensive Beryllium Program, mixed waste analysis, worker safety and industrial hygiene, and nuclear safety support.”
