Savannah River Remediation, the liquid waste contractor at the Savannah River Site, has completed a replacement laboratory next to the Defense Waste Processing Facility to serve the site’s liquid waste system. The new multi-functional laboratory will provide backup lab support for the Effluent Treatment Facility, an area for training and space for chemical storage and replaces an older facility that had been housed in two trailers since 1993, according to a Department of Energy release. The new lab “will turn-around lab samples more quickly and will allow technicians to work in a lab that has all spare equipment at their fingertips,” Jim Folk, DOE-Savannah River Acting Assistant Manager for Waste Disposition Project, said in the release.
