Bechtel Seeks Subcontractor to Detect Underground Leaks at Hanford WTP
Bechtel National is seeking companies interested in providing underground leak detection services at the Hanford Site’s Waste Treatment Plant, according to a posting on FedBizOpps on Monday. The sources sought notice states that Bechtel, the lead contractor for WTP, and the Department of Energy are looking for a provider for a “non-invasive method” to locate hidden pipe leaks on buried lines from 2015 to 2020. “Craftsmen will be available to provide service water or plant air to the system with the hidden leak,” the posting states. “Service provider is to provide the material and equipment necessary to perform the non-invasive method of leak detection.” Bechtel and DOE are asking respondees to submit information by 4 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time today; they aim to issue a request for proposals by Nov. 2, to award the contract by Dec. 9, to have a subcontractor start work by Dec. 15, and to have all work finished by Aug. 19, 2019, according to the listing.
This contract would be completely unrelated to work being performed on waste leaking from Hanford’s underground tanks, which is handled by Washington River Protection Solutions.
Bechtel is seeking the following information from potential bidders: Dun and Bradstreet number, company name and address, the name and phone number of a contact person, an email address, safety data and information, and applicable work experience and projects.
DOE and Bechtel did not respond to requests for comment this week.
