UCOR Selects New COO
Oak Ridge Reservation cleanup contractor URS CH2M Oak Ridge (UCOR) on Tuesday said a recently retired manager is returning to the company as chief operating officer.
Fran Williams will succeed Matt Marston, who left UCOR in January to take a high-level job with URS parent company AECOM. Prior to her retirement in 2015, Williams was UCOR’s manager of environment, safety, health, and quality assurance (ESH&QA).
She led the company in being designated as a Star facility under the Department of Energy’s Voluntary Protection Program, which honors sites around the country for exceptional safety records. UCOR exceeded 5 million hours with no lost-time accidents, according to a company press release.
Williams worked for 38 years at various nuclear sites in the United States and United Kingdom. Prior roles include executive director of ESH&QA at the United Kingdom’s Sellafield site and vice president of health, safety, security, environment, and quality with URS Global Management and Operations Services.
“I am pleased to welcome Fran back to the UCOR team,” Ken Rueter, UCOR president and project manager, said in the release. “Her skills and expertise are ideally suited to the needs of this project as we continue to clean up the East Tennessee Technology Park and support DOE in transforming the site into a private sector industrial park.”
