By Kenny Fletcher

Sue Cange Named DOE Oak Ridge Cleanup Manager

WC Monitor
1/30/2015

Sue Cange was officially named this week as the full-time Manager of the Department of Energy Oak Ridge’s Office of Environmental Management.  Cange had served in the post on an acting basis since May 2014, when current EM Acting Assistant Secretary Mark Whitney moved from Oak Ridge to EM headquarters. Cange arrived at Oak Ridge in March 2011 as deputy manager. “Sue has a long and proven record of leadership,” Whitney said in a message to employees late this week. “I’ve seen firsthand Sue’s ability to develop and accomplish ambitious cleanup strategies and foster results-driven relationships with a variety of stakeholders on complex issues.”

Cange will oversee cleanup at the East Tennessee Technology Park, Y-12, Oak Ridge Naitonal Laboratory and the rest of the site. “I am extremely honored to have been selected to serve as manager of the Oak Ridge Office of Environmental Management. Our program has a long history of success, and I look forward to working with our talented workforce as we safely execute our cleanup mission on the Oak Ridge Reservation,” Cange said in a statement. “We have important and challenging work ahead of us.  We must complete cleanup of ETTP, and seamlessly transition to address cleanup challenges at Y-12 and ORNL. I look forward to strengthening our important relationships with our stakeholders, environmental regulators, and the greater Oak Ridge community as we progress towards our ultimate goal of a remediated and reindustrialized site.”
