PAUL HENRY TO SERVE AS ACTING DEPUTY LAB DIRECTOR
NS&D Monitor
3/14/2014
Paul Henry, Los Alamos National Laboratory’s Principal Associate Director for Capital Projects, will serve as the lab’s acting Deputy Director with the sudden departure of Beth Sellers, NS&D Monitor has learned. Sellers, a Bechtel executive, abruptly resigned late last week in the wake of an ethics scandal, and will leave the lab March 14, laboratory officials told NS&D Monitor. According to a draft Department of Energy Inspector General report, Sellers and her husband failed to notify lab officials of a potential conflict of interest before Sellers’ husband, a consultant to the lab, was awarded a sole-source contract. Sellers’ husband also billed the lab for work that he never performed, according to the report. Henry has headed up capital projects at the lab since 2011. He previously served as the manager of Bechtel’s work at the Pueblo Chemical Depot in Colorado. He will serve as the acting Deputy Lab Director while a search for Sellers’ successor is conducted.
