Department of Energy contractor BWX Technologies is scheduled to release its fourth-quarter 2016 earnings after market close on Monday. That will be followed by an earnings conference call with management at 8:30 a.m. Eastern U.S. time, according to a BWXT press release.
The Lynchburg, Va.-based company reported about $62 million in operating income for the third quarter of 2016, down from $130 million year over year largely due to a one-time $65 million gain in the earlier quarter. Quarterly revenue was actually up by 6 percent, to nearly $380 million.
BWXT has a broad presence across DOE’s nuclear cleanup and nuclear weapons sectors, including as a member of the partnerships that manage the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant and the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico, among other sites. It also provides nuclear reactors to the U.S. Navy and nuclear components and services to a broader swath of clients.
Meanwhile, French nuclear multinational AREVA is scheduled to release its 2016 earnings figures on Wednesday. The company’s quarterly earnings conference call is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Central European Summer Time (2:30 a.m. Eastern U.S. time).
The company reported 880 million euros in revenue for the third quarter of the year, a 6 percent drop from the same period of 2015. “Foreign exchange had a negative impact of 5 million euros over the period,” AREVA said in a press release at the time.
However, AREVA also reported 7.2 billion in new orders through the first nine months of 2016, a massive year-over-year spike against 1.2 billion euros to that time in the prior year.
AREVA is in the midst of a major restructuring, in which it is selling off its nuclear reactor business to French power utility Eléctricité de France SA and focusing on nuclear fuel cycle operations. The change includes the recently announced formation of a U.S. subsidiary, AREVA Nuclear Materials.
