AREVA AND ATKINS PARTNER TO COMPETE FOR UK D&D WORK

By ExchangeMonitor

AREVA and engineering and design firm Atkins yesterday announced the formation of a joint venture to compete for Tier 2 contracts in the United Kingdom’s nuclear decommissioning market. French nuclear company AREVA, which with URS and AMEC is part of a team managing the Sellafield site, will work with UK-based Atkins, which has completed consulting work at Sellafield and the Magnox sites. The AREVA-ATKINS Partnership UK will be based in Warrington, England. “We are delighted to link with a company with such a strong reputation as Atkins,” Dominique Mockly, AREVA Senior Executive Vice President, Back End Business Group said in a statement. “This will enable us to put our proven technology to use in meeting the challenges of UK decommissioning and strengthen AREVA’s footprint in the country.”
