Aptim lands potential $630M worth of naval reactor cleanup work

By ExchangeMonitor

Louisiana-based Aptim Federal Services has landed a maximum $630 million worth of naval reactor cleanup work at sites in the Northeast, the Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental Management said Thursday.

The new task order contract is being issued via the Nationwide Deactivation, Decommissioning, and Removal program and involves tearing down decaying facilities and related work at the Kesselring Site and Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, in West Milton and Niskayuna, N.Y., according to the release.

The 10-year indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity deal could be expanded to include Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory in West Mifflin, Pa., DOE said.

Aptim is one of nine companies selected for such nationwide demolition work back in July 2020.

In addition to 15 core Cold War and Manhattan Project sites, the Office of Environmental Management has increasingly been assigned cleanup of excess facilities for sister DOE branches and federal agencies.
