ANOTHER KEY PERSON OUT AT IDAHO TREATMENT GROUP

By ExchangeMonitor

Just days after announcing that one management vacancy had been filled, B&W-led Idaho Treatment Group, LLC, the managing contractor for the Advanced Mixed Waste Treatment Project, is looking at another empty spot in its set of key personnel. Late last week, ITG Deputy Project Manager and Vice President for Business Norm Sandlin retired, and has subsequently been hired by the consulting firm Longenecker & Associates as a new Senior Associate for Acquisition and Business. ‘We’re pleased to have Norm back as part of our team. He is a true professional with a solid track record of implementing creative solutions on a range of projects,” L&A President John Longenecker said in a release.

Sandlin joined ITG last May after holding the position of Senior Business Manager with B&W Technical Services Group. Sandlin’s departure from ITG came soon after the contractor announced a new Environmental, Safety and Health manager. According to ITG spokesman Rick Dale, Waste Programs Manager Dave Haar will assume the role of Deputy Project Manager, with the contractor conducting “a candidate search” for a new Business Services manager.

It remains to be seen whether DOE will choose to levy a fee reduction against ITG for Sandlin’s early departure; under the terms of its contract ITG can lose up to $25,000 if any of five key personnel listed in its contract—Waste Programs Lead, Environment, Safety & Health Lead, Plant Manager, Lead Legal Counsel and Business Manager—leave ahead of a two-year commitment. The Department of Energy’s Idaho Operations Office did not respond to requests for comment yesterday.
