AMIDST NEW PROTEST, BECHTEL FOCUSING ON NNSA’S Y-12/PX INFO REQUEST

By ExchangeMonitor

While Babcock & Wilcox has again protested the National Nuclear Security Administration’s move to seek additional cost savings information from bidders on its Y-12/Pantex procurement, Bechtel—the lead of the team picked as the winner of the procurement in January—said it is moving forward with supplying the NNSA with the information it requested. B&W, which successfully protested the NNSA’s award to Bechtel-led Consolidated Nuclear Security in January, said Monday that it is protesting the “fairness” of the procurement and selection process as well as the “form and scope” of the information requested of bidders June 6. “We are focused on complying with the NNSA’s request for additional information, and we intend to take full advantage of the opportunity to further validate our proposal,” Bechtel spokesman Jason Bohne said in a statement. “The NNSA’s instructions are straightforward and focused on proposed cost savings, and appear sufficient to implement the sole GAO recommendation while avoiding further distractions and delay.”
