London-based engineering and project management provider Amec Foster Wheeler on Wednesday said it had filled the new position of chief information officer with a longtime technology and energy industry manager.
Rod Carr started on the job on Tuesday, according to a company press release. He will work in London and report to CEO Jonathan Lewis as a participant in the Group Leadership Team.
Carr most recently was group chief information officer for Centrica Energy, where he had worked since 2010. His 25-year career also included stops at Scotia Gas Networks and AEP Energy Services.
“Rod has an exceptionally wide understanding of both the technology and energy sectors and his expertise will be instrumental in driving the execution of our information technology strategy,” Lewis said in a press release. “I am delighted to welcome him to the business.”
Amec Foster Wheeler provides services in a number of energy industries, including decommissioning and remediation of nuclear sites. It is partnering with CB&I on a CDN $86.8 million contract to build the Port Granby storage site for historic low-level radioactive waste in Ontario, Canada. The company in May received two research and development contracts for integrated waste management, site remediation, and spent fuel and nuclear materials management from the U.K.’s Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. In November 2015 it received a one-year contract for design, safety basis, and environmental assessment of a new facility to hold waste from decommissioning ofthe Dounreay nuclear site in Scotland.
