The Department of Energy’s cleanup branch announced this week that Joel Bradburne is the new field office manager at the Portsmouth-Paducah Project Office, after acting as the top boss for operations in Ohio and Kentucky since Robert Edwards retired at the end of July.
“In this role he will oversee the deactivation and demolition of the former Gaseous Diffusion facilities at Portsmouth and Paducah, and operations of the Depleted Uranium Hexafluoride (DUF6) plants,” DOE Office of Environmental Management senior adviser William (Ike) White said in a “Dear Colleagues” memo viewed by Weapons Complex Monitor.
“Joel has more than 35-years of experience in commercial and government nuclear operations and cleanup,” and more than 20 years working at DOE weapons complex sites, White said. Bradburne assumes the permanent manager role effective immediately.
Bradburne became deputy manager at the Portsmouth-Paducah office in November 2017 after working as the site lead for the Paducah Site. He previously worked as a senior project manager with Nuclear Fuel Services in South Carolina and held management jobs with Fluor Fernald at the DOE’s Fernald Site in Ohio.
