The House Committee on Science, Space and Technology’s subcommittee on energy will hear from four Department of Energy lab directors on the labs’ ongoing research programs.
The subcommittee hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time in the Rayburn House Office Building, room 2318.
The witnesses include: Kim Budil, director of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California; Thom Mason, director of Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico; John Wagner, director of Idaho National Laboratory; and Paul Kearns, director of Argonne National Laboratory in Illinois.
The hearing follows newly-confirmed Secretary of Energy Chris Wright’s order Feb. 5, where he outlined nine priorities for the department, which included commercial nuclear power, modernizing the nuclear stockpile “urgently,” and “technological breakthroughs” in nuclear fusion as part of the department’s research and development portfolio.
