Widespread leadership changes at Strategic Management Solutions Inc.

By ExchangeMonitor

David O’Flynn is taking over as chief executive officer of Strategic Management Solutions Inc. as part of a broader leadership shuffle at the Albuquerque, N.M.-based Department of Energy subcontractor.

The changes were part of a letter to employees dated May 1. The letter was shared with the Exchange Monitor.

As CEO, O’Flynn, most recently president of Strategic Management Solutions Inc. (SMSI) will be responsible for the company’s corporate operations and for pursuing new business at DOE nuclear sites. O’Flynn will replace SMSI founder Lee Bernstein, who will become the chairman of the company’s board of directors.

Also as part of the management changes, Matthew Nuckols will succeed O’Flynn as president of SMSI.

Bernstein founded SMSI in 2000. The company today has about 150 employees, according to its website. SMSI initially focused on construction projects at the Los Alamos National Laboratory and has since expanded to active and shuttered DOE nuclear-weapon sites in or near Aiken, S.C., Amarillo, Texas, Argonne, Ill., Idaho Falls, Ida., Las Vegas, Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Richland, Wash.
