2012 HOUSE CLEANUP CAUCUS BRIEFINGS TO START NEXT WEEK

By ExchangeMonitor

This year’s set of House Cleanup Caucus briefings is scheduled to get underway next week, with acting Assistant Energy Secretary for Environmental Management David Huizenga to give an overview of EM’s Fiscal Year 2013 budget request on Feb. 16. The briefing is scheduled to be held from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in Room 1539 of the Longworth House Office Building in Washington. Other scheduled briefings include:

  • The Richland Site Office at Hanford on March  7 from 4:00–5:00 p.m. in Room HC-8 in the U.S. Capital;
  • Oak Ridge on March 21 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in Room 1539 Longworth House Office Building;
  • Complex-wide Safety Briefing on March 22 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in  Room HC-8 in the U.S. Capital;
  • The Portsmouth/Paducah Project Office on March 27 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. in Room  1539 Longworth House Office Building;
  • The Idaho National Laboratory on March 28 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. in Room HC-8 in the U.S. Capital;
  • The Savannah River Site on April 18 from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. in Room 1539 Longworth House Office Building; and
  • The Office of River Protection at Hanford on April 19 from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. in Room 1539 Longworth House Office Building.
 “During my time in Congress I have found that these briefings help educate and update my colleagues and their staff about nuclear cleanup issues,” Hastings said in a statement yesterday.  “The fact is cleanup doesn’t happen in Washington, DC—it’s accomplished out at our sites in our communities. Hearing unvarnished reports from those on the front-lines at our EM sites is critical for us—and that’s what I hope to get out of these briefings.”
